Wisdom Tooth Surgery

Wisdom tooth surgery is a common dental procedure, often needed when the third molars are impacted or causing oral health issues. Early intervention can help prevent infection, pain, or damage to surrounding teeth.

What is a Wisdom Tooth?

Wisdom teeth are the third molars that typically erupt between the ages of 17 and 25. Often, there isn't enough space in the jaw for them to emerge properly, which can lead to impaction or partial eruption.

When Is Wisdom Tooth Surgery Needed?

  • Tooth is angled or pushing against neighboring teeth

  • Pain, swelling, or gum inflammation around the area

  • Causes crowding or misalignment of front teeth

  • Risk of tooth decay or cysts near the wisdom tooth

  • Recommended prior to orthodontic treatment

  2. Local anesthesia for pain control

  3. Incision to access the impacted tooth

  4. Bone trimming or tooth sectioning for removal

  5. Wound cleaning and suturing

  6. Bite down on gauze to control bleeding
